Rashid is an entrepreneur who runs a sports shop specialising in badminton equipment and accessories in the popular ss15 commercial hub in Subang Jaya.
Being a stone’s throw away from a number of tertiary education centres has provided his store, Raz Sporting House, with a steady influx of young badminton enthusiasts. Business is booming but rental in the area is high, which eats into his bottom line.
His lease is also expiring soon and he is worried that the landlord may further increase the rent, or worse, decide not to renew the agreement.
Rashid began exploring options and being a resident of Subang Jaya, he was keen to have his business near home.
He also wanted a location which would provide him with a similar clientele of students. His search led him to a new development in USJ1 called edumetro.
Initial research indicated that edumetro was once an ailing development known as Remix 2. However, thanks to the efforts of a white knight developer, HCK Capital Group, it is now a bustling integrated development featuring lifestyle and commercial units.
What really enticed Rashid to check out the retail lots was the news that SEGi College would be opening its new campus in edumetro. This would provide Raz Sporting House with a young and active clientele that will be the lifeblood of his business.
Rashid initially wanted to rent but noting the competitive pricing at edumetro, he began to think about investing in his own business property.
That way he would no longer be at the mercy of rent hikes or worry about moving again.
A visit to the sales office in HCK Tower further brightened his mood when told that there were a number of “mampu milik” units available. Furthermore, these units happened to be adjacent to the soon-to-be-opened SEGi College campus.
Signing on the dotted line, Rashid felt a wave of optimism wash over him as he began plotting the direction for Raz Sporting House@edumetro.
