HCK Capital Group is making a big push to be a sustainability leader. Guided by our vision of enhancing quality of life, we focus on the three key sustainability areas: Environment, Social Responsibility, and Governance (ESG). Here’s what we have been doing and planning for the future.
We are environmentally friendly
When we started, we knew we wanted to protect the environment and had a clear plan. A few development projects later, we’ve redefined what it means to be eco-conscious. We constructed our three landmark education cities — edumetro, edusentral, and edusphere — using green building technologies. From design and planning to construction, we’ve integrated energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials.
Our eco-friendly ethos is imprinted on the green open spaces and landscaping across our developments. These areas are not only a joy to experience but also provide healthier living spaces for residents. We are proud to say that edumetro has achieved a significant milestone by securing the Bronze Certification from GreenRE, a leading authority in sustainable development assessments.
We are socially responsible
We also understand the importance of giving back to the communities we serve. One challenge we see is that many people cannot afford a house or find it difficult to locate one that suits their needs. Our homemaking principle has led us to build homes in various layouts that fit different income levels. We also choose strategic places to build them. We want to help more people find their forever homes that suit their budgets and preferred location.
Beyond housing, HCK is committed to improving community well-being. The Hiichiikok Foundation was set up for this purpose, running educational, healthcare, and social welfare programs. We want everyone to have equitable access to opportunities for success in life, and access to essential services is a fundamental right.
We also value our employees. We want to continuously support our most important assets by creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace. Besides promoting diversity and inclusion, we offer training and development programs to help our employees improve and advance their careers. We love a good discussion, so we work hard to cultivate a culture of respect and openness.
We practise good governance
To achieve all this, we understand the importance of good governance. We follow high standards of corporate governance to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in all our operations and projects. Our Board of Directors consists of experienced professionals who provide strategic guidance and oversight, steering our ship in the right direction.
We also have robust risk management and controls in place to identify and address potential risks, including environmental and operational ones. By carefully managing these risks, we aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of our business and protect the interests of those who trust in us.
What the future holds
With the success and popularity of our education cities, we have bigger plans to enhance our ESG efforts. Our latest and biggest project yet — the e.Sentral smart city development — will make full use of state-of-the-art green technologies and practices. This project will allow residents to enjoy digital features that control electricity, locks, cameras, gate entry, and enhance home safety and energy savings. Located next to a 62-acre green forest paradise, it will be a beacon of modern and sustainable living.
On the social front, we aim to expand our community engagement initiatives. We will launch more programs focused on education, health, and social welfare. For our employees, we want to boost engagement and development programs to create a more inclusive and dynamic workplace.
HCK will also continue to improve its corporate governance practices to align with best practices and regulatory requirements. We will always maintain high levels of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct.
What it means to be an ESG leader
HCK’s commitment to ESG principles is more than just words; it’s about taking concrete actions that bring positive impacts every step we take. We want to consistently exceed expectations and show that a business can be both profitable and sustainable.
