Building a Strong Sense of Community

Imperial International School, Ipoh creates a family environment by nurturing a sense of community among all stakeholders.

‘You Belong Here!’ This was the clarion call issued by Imperial International School, Ipoh (Imperial) as it seeks to establish itself not just as the institution of choice in the Silver State but also create a sense of community among students, parents and staff.

This ‘You Belong Here’ campaign will be a year-long effort with numerous activities planned to inculcate a sense of belonging among students as well as instilling a sense of pride in their alma mater. Parents are engaged by having positive conversations and getting their input on how to further improve their children’s educational journey at Imperial. The local community is also engaged via various programmes, activities and events designed to create students with a sense of civic duties.

“This is not just a simple recruitment drive. This ‘You Belong Here’ campaign is designed to place Imperial at the heart of the Ipoh community. It will showcase the many positive values that Imperial imparts to its students and by actively engaging with the Ipoh community, we hope to be a pillar institution of the city,” explains Renita Simmunjalam, Imperial’s Marketing and Admissions Manager.

Whether it be organising charitable events or making its facilities available for community shindigs, Imperial hopes to be an integral part of Ipoh’s rich heritage and tapestry. The campaign will start off with former and current students and their families providing video testimonies of positive experiences at Imperial to underline why it is an international school with a difference.

Renita says that they will be organising school holiday workshops and participating in the Ipoh Car-Free days. “Imperial also firmly believes that quality education should be readily accessible to deserving students and part of this campaign is the continuing dispensation of scholarships and enrolment incentive opportunities,” relays Renita.

“The essence of the campaign is to emphasise to all relevant stakeholders that they are at the core of Imperial’s programmes, events, services, and policies. By implementing this ‘You Belong Here’ campaign, we believe the people of Ipoh will recognise the school as an essential element of the city’s multi-layered fabric,” she concludes.

Imperial offers the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus for primary and secondary students (Year 1-11). To be part of this ‘You Belong Here’ campaign, engage with Imperial via Whatsapp here:
