In this episode of Without Reservation, Kelvin Ooi, our talk show host interviews Steve Siew, a sales director from The Great Haus on why being a property agent is the best money-making part-time job during Movement Control Order (MCO).
Steve introduces The Great Haus (TGH) as a licensed real-estate agency formed in 2018 with a team of 500 members in both East and West Malaysia. The success of TGH lies in its close partnership with top-notch property developers to bring the best products and services to property buyers and investors all over the country.
Steve discloses that TGH’s current main focus is on HCK Capital Group’s property projects. As a listed property developer, HCK currently offers 3 projects, namely edusentral in Setia Alam, edusphere in Cyberjaya and edumetro in Subang Jaya.
Established with an education city concept, each of the master developments is integrated with an education institution, bringing together lifestyle, business and learning all in one place. This unique school-at-doorstep feature offers not only convenience to property buyers but also long-term value to investors due to its high student population catchment. During last year’s MCO, TGH has managed to close the sales of more than 100 property units, with most being HCK’s properties.
Describing a personal account, Steve remembers one of his agents who joined in May last year. She was a kindergarten teacher in her 20’s, looking for a part-time job. Driven and hardworking, she followed every step in TGH’s book which included comprehensive marketing techniques, zero-cost online advertising and stringent follow-ups. One of her successful sales was the project, edusphere in Cyberjaya and she ended up with more than RM20,000 commission in the month of December 2020.
Relating to Steve’s story, Kelvin enquires about the stigma of late commission payment in property industry. Steve explains that TGH now offers 2 types of payment schemes to its members. The first being the ‘Fast And Full Comm’ scheme which 100% commission is paid to an agent within a month. The second is the ‘5-Day Fast Comm’ scheme in which the agent could collect 50% commission 5 five days after sales transaction.
These schemes are made possible through special arrangement with TGH’s developer partners and also partly contributed by an internal fund created and sponsored by TGH’s founding partners.
Other rewards offered by TGH include oversea holiday incentives and car purchase incentives in which TGH will fully sponsor the down payment. All incentives are awarded upon achieving established sales goals to further motivate the property agents.
Steve recounts the story of another member who was attracted to the ‘Fast And Full Comm’ scheme, jumped ship from another property agency and joined TGH in 2019. Within 2 years, the agent is now TGH’s Sales Manager and owns a Mercedes-Benz CLA.
In his conclusion, Steve believes that joining a property agency is one of the most effective ways to make dreams come true. Any person could achieve his or her life goals by choosing the right property agency and putting in the required effort.
