The ballroom at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa was awash with red recently, as SEGi University and Colleges, the largest group in terms of market capitalisation and student numbers, celebrated its 40th anniversary and annual dinner.
With the theme being “Ruby”, over a thousand guests, including some as far as Kuching and Penang (where SEGI campuses are located) turned up in their finest ruby red outfits.
The VIP guest was SEG International board chairman Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Haji Megat Khas. Also present were SEGi Group Managing Director Tan Sri Clement Hii and the SEGi board of directors, including Edwin Fua; Datuk Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil; Goh Leng Chua; Hew Moi Lan; and Datuk Amos Yee.
Other invited guests included senior management from HCK Group, including Leong Choong Fah, Group Executive Director Corporate Services; and Fong Peng Yew, Chief Operating Officer, Properties; while HCK Media representatives included CEO Hng Hung Yong and Senior HR Manager Eileen Liew.
Tan Sri Clement Hii, who is also Executive Chairman of the HCK Group, welcomed the guests in his opening speech, and touched on the history of the educational institute that was founded in 1977.
To commemorate the evening, long-service awards were handed out to SEGi staff who had served 10 to 30 years with the group.
There were also prizes for best dressed male and female of the night, as well as a lucky drawthat featured a RM10,000 travel voucher as the grand prize.
HCK Group and SEGi have a healthy relationship by virtue of having the same boss. There had previously been badminton friendlies between the two groups.
All guests were treated to a scrumptious eight-course Chinese dinner.
