Two HCK Directors Conferred Datukship

From all of us at HCK Group, we would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to the Group Managing Director, Clifford Hii and Independent Non-Executive Director, Emeritus Professor Dr. Muhamad Awang on being conferred their Datukship recently.

Clifford was awarded the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M) which carries the title Datuk, in conjunction with the 81th birthday of Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Melaka, Tun Datuk Seri Utama Dr. Mohd Khalil bin Yaakob. A total of 566 recipients were bestowed with awards and honours in the investiture ceremony.

In 2014, Clifford was appointed as an Executive Director of HCK, and was appointed as a member of the Remuneration Committee in 2015. He was the Vice Presiedent of Group Corporate Development & Support of SEG International Bhd. Prior to joining SEGi, he also served in various positions in management and media firms. 

Emeritus Professor Dr. Muhamad Awang received the Dato’ Paduka Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan (D.J.M.K), carrying the title Dato', from His Royal Highness Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V in recognition of his achievements and contributions.

Prof. Dr. Muhamad Awang is an Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Dato’ Prof. Awang joined our affiliated company, SEGi University as Vice Chancellor in 2008 and quickly saw the institution grow and develop into a renowned private higher education establishment. He retired as the first Vice Chancellor of SEGi University after 8 years of service.

Currently he is still actively involved in the Low Carbon Economy and Climate Change research and development programme sponsored by the Ministry of Education Malaysia under the Long-term Research Grant Scheme (LRGS). He has also recently served as member of National Strategic Plan for Higher Education (PSPTN) Review Team for the establishment of the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015 – 2025 (Higher Education).
