For most children who grow up in the city, there are not many opportunities to expend their energy apart from the occasional trip to the playground.
So when the children of the Hiichiikok Foundation Home for Children Care received an invitation to the Jungle Gym at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya recently, there was a lot of excitement, and much anticipation.
The children were not disappointed. They were greeted by what was literally a wonderland of playthings. They spent several hours crawling through tunnels, shooting airguns, jumping on trampolines as well as swinging and sliding.
The occasion also gave them the opportunity to meet and play with other children, and that helped them to hone their social skills.
Having used up all their energy, the children then trooped into a restaurant nearby for a hearty meal.
Both the trip to the gym and the meal were made possible through the generosity of two well-wishers.
The Hiichiikok Foundation Home for Children Care is a non-governmental organisation that takes in orphans as well as children from single parent homes and underprivileged background to empower them in the hope that they will become contributing members of society later in life.
