Capitalising on the Silk Road

20 Feb 2017

It’s undeniable that businesses in Asia will drive the world economy. With Europe in turmoil over Brexit and the refugee crisis, and the United Stoates retreating from trade pacts, Asia, led by economic juggernaut China, and the Asean Economic Community look set to reap the rewards.

But what must businesses do to ride this wave? In its search for answers, Focus Malaysia is proud to present Focus Exchange, a networking platform to keep you abreast of Asia’s business megatrends.

The first event of this series, organised by Focus Marketing Technologies and 8MAD Group, is Reinventing The Silk Road, a discussion on The Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on Malaysian businesses.

The Belt and Road Initiative refers to a development strategy launched by the Chinese government with the intention of promoting economic cooperation among countries along proposed land and maritime routes that would connect 64 countries and over four billion people.

The Initiative is intended to further market integration and create a regional economic co-operation framework of benefit to all. China has become one of Malaysia’s largest investors, pouring money into our ports, railways and property development.

Here’s your chance to join the captains of industry as they meet to share news, views and insights about the future of business in Malaysia.

A panel of experts including Andy Zhao, managing director at China Railroad Construction Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CRCC Malaysia) based in Kuala Lumpur, Ong Yew Chee, MATRADE’s Director of China Unit, Ken Chee Kuan Tat, executive chairman of 8I Holdings Limited, Associate Prof Loh Wei Hoong, CEO Coach at Vistage, MBA lecturer & former head of marketing at KPMG, and Eric Looi, director of sales & marketing at SB Group will be on hand to discuss the direction Asia is heading to.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Freda Liu, a presenter and producer at BFM 89.9.

The event takes place on March 10 from 5pm to 10pm at Connexion@Nexus Bangsar South. The forum starts at 5pm followed by dinner and networking at 7pm.

Registration is now open, and entry to the event is priced at RM300 per pax. Early bird registration before 28th Feb is priced at only RM200.
