Focus Malaysia celebrates Issue #200

HCK Media’s flagship publication Focus Malaysia recently came out with its 200th issue.

To celebrate this milestone, HCK Media staff were treated to a small party at the BreakOut Room on Level 2 of Wisma HCK. 

Present were Focus Malaysia Group Editor-in-Chief Chong Cheng Hai, Sales & Marketing Director Alison Lim, Head of Production Tang Chee Hong, Senior Manager HR, Purchasing and Facilities Eileen Liew Ik Ling and Director – Technology Joshua Law.

Also present were the editorial team, as well as representatives from the sales & marketing, circulation, technology and corporate departments. 

Between munching on kuih-muih and curry puffs, Chong gave a short speech on how far the business weekly has come since its launch on Dec 8, 2012.

Focus Malaysia has grown from strength to strength, giving readers a fully-packaged publication with awesome cover stories, insightful columns and market analysis, and engaging features. 

From Issue #001 (Halim Saad’s cash cow) written by Toh Lye Huat to Issue #200 (Fending off criticism) written by Clint Loh, Focus Malaysia has achieved wider recognition in the marketplace, grown stronger in circulation and increased advertising revenue. 

According to Chong, this is possible only through tight teamwork and selfless contributions from everyone, from editorial, marketing, technology, production, circulation to corporate departments. Not forgetting advertisers, news agents and supporters.

“In the unforgiving media industry, a publication is only as good as its last issue. Fickle readers remember only the most recent exclusive. That is why we try harder and dig deeper each week to bring out the best issue possible,” said Chong in his message to HCK Media staff.

He also thanked HCK Group Executive Chairman Tan Sri Clement Hii Chii Kok for his “benevolence, guidance, faith, patience, protection and blessings which afford us the freedom and confidence to do our best”.
