It was a blazing hot afternoon. The sun beat down and not a cloud was in the sky, as approximately 5,000 racers gathered at the Bursa Exchange Square in Kuala Lumpur on August 20 for the annual Bursa Bull Charge race.
HCK Media was represented by eight gallant lads and ladies. They were Purvinn Chai, Kanna Matthew, Silas Emmanuel Joseph from the Circulation Department, business writer Behonce Beh from Focus Malaysia, and Focusweek news writers from Rita Jong, Lim Su Lin, Kalavaani Karupiah and Soo Wern Jun.
The race was divided into three categories — 1.5km CEO category, 2.5km relay and 5km open category. The runners represented various companies from all over the Klang Valley.
Despite the scorching heat, the runners charged through the city’s Golden Triangle, going through Jalan Raja Chulan via Bukit Ceylon before hitting Jalan Dang Wangi and arriving back at the Bursa Exchange Square at Bukit Kewangan.
The race lasted about an hour. All eight HCK Media runners breezed past the finish line to earn the coveted finisher medals. Our racers are happy with the race, though the heat posed a big challenge.
“I enjoyed it, but it was quite tiring because of the heat,” says Kanna. “It would have been better if there were more water stations along the way.”
“It was fun, tiring and very hot,” says Kalavaani, adding that it was a good opportunity to meet others.
Overall, the HCK Media runners find it an enjoyable experience and they would repeat the experience if given the chance. “It was really uplifting. I would definitely do it again,” says Silas.
