The children of Hiichiikok Foundation had an exciting night out recently. Thanks to Irene Chuah of Resorts World, they had the privilege of watching ChildAid Asia, a charity show showcasing musical prodigies from various Asian countries.

With the theme “A World To Imagine”, the concert series featured nearly 80 youths, between 11 and 20 years old, from the Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia. About half of the performers are local youths.

The kids were mesmerised by the performances of some musicians, such as the Young Filipinos’ Orchestra, Singaporean harpist Reene Yadav, Austrian siblings Caitlan and Nathan Rinaldy and Malaysia’s Zoe Hong and Melvyn Gnai.

One performer who left a lasting impression on the kids was Michael Anthony Kwok, a blind autistic pianist from Indonesia. After watching such a remarkable display of talent, the children went home feeling inspired to pursue their musical dreams.

The ChildAid Asia concert took place at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) on July 16 and 17. The funds from ticket sales will aid underprivileged children, by sponsoring the training and logistic needs of more than 30 children and giving ChildAid Asia KL the opportunity to branch out to other programmes.
